Program Description
The Education Specialist degree in Teaching and Learning is an advanced degree designed to prepare the student to become a scholar who can discover, integrate, and apply new knowledge. The intent of the program is to support students in advancing their understanding of education research in teaching and learning in a specialized field. The program allows students to create a self-designed cognate based on their interests and career goals. Students are encouraged to work with program coordinators to design their programs of study to ensure they have the cognate courses uniquely fitted to their areas of interest and study. The program of study for the degree is determined by the student and program coordinator. Summary of Degree Requirements
The Teaching and Learning Ed.S. requires a minimum of 32 credits of coursework. In addition to completion of coursework, students must complete the following competencies in order to graduate: - Conduct local, state, regional, and/or national presentations or professional development sessions as the primary presenter and/or demonstrate competency in scholarly communication within a professional setting.
- Submit policy, practitioner, research briefs, or research manuscripts for publication as the primary author and/or demonstrate competency in scholarly writing in an external resource.
